Waikiki is a famous neighborhood in the city of Honolulu, Hawaii. The name Waikiki means "spouting fresh water" for the springs and streams that fed the wetlands that once separated the area from the interior parts of the Island of Oahu.

Waikiki's most famous attractions include Kapi'olani Park, Fort de Russy Military Reservation, Kahamoku Lagoon, Kuhio Beach Park, and Ala Wai Harbor.

Kapi'olani Park is the largest and oldest public beach in Hawaii. The park has a zoo, tennis and basketball courts, soccer, baseball, lacrosse, and rugby fields as well as an archery range. It has a beauitful jogger's path and a bandstand that doubles as an entertainment venue.

Kahamoku Lagoon is a famous, small, man-made wading pool on the south shore. The spot has become a popular swimming area in recent years with a renovation that has seen new trees and a small island being added.

The main street is Kalakaua Avenue which is home to most of the high end hotels (Royal Hawaiian, Hyatt, Moana Surfrider Hotel, and Sheraton), designer brand stores (Apple Store, Louis Vuitton, Prada, and Gucci), and other popular destinations.
